| San Jose, Ca -- Miller Lite Fight Night at the Tank played by the
rules of the boxing state athletic regulations
Thursday night when Ricardo Cortes earned a
disqualification to Errol Banner in their super
middleweight fight at the HP Pavilion.
The bout began with even trading of power
blows and jabs from both fighters, but in the 7th
round, Cortes landed an illegal blow to the back
of the head of Banner. The injured fighter
suffered a severe blow and was no longer able to
continue the fight.
Banner was unable to regain wits or stand
up properly, and the referee stopped the bout in
the 7th round. This action concluded
to be a deliberate foul from Cortes and the
victory was awarded to Banner.
Cortes suffered his first loss in his
career, and his record fell to 10-1-1. |
| In other bouts of the evening, in the super
lightweight division, Anibal Solis earned a
split decision victory over Jorge Espinoza.
In the light middleweight division,
Walter Diaz earned a majority decision over
Israel Sandoval.
In the female bout of the evening at
featherweight, Carina Moreno earned a first
round TKO victory over Brittney Conan. |

In
the bantamweight division during the main event,
Roger Gonzalez earned a split decision victory
over Samuel Lopez.
Among
the attendees at the tank was ESPN boxing expert
Al Bernstein who joined the crowd of 3,334 at HP
Pavilion.
Miller Lite Fight Night at the Tank is
